If you use iphone, buy iphone SE 2020/2022 and use Facetime. It''s 10X better than whatsapp and she can use that phone till she completes her course.
If not let her buy a phone she likes man. Just give her a budget.
Unless you want to launch rockets from the mobile (just kidding), all the phones are more or less same assuming you won''t run video edit suites or MS office suites.
Let the girl choose. Help them to make simple choices in life so that they can make bigger decisions and rely on themselves when you are not around.

First of all now a days no one cares which mobile you are holding, so theres nothing to show off
To use WhatsApp need a smart phone. CHEAPEST one will start hanging with in 2-3 months. better to go for a mid range android mobile ranging 10-15 k rupee

Oh, your daughter is only 7 years old? Then you can get her an iPhone 13 pro max 1tb phone. Best in the market and you can use whatsapp also in that.
Slightly expensive, but works really well.

i would suggest dont give mobile to such a young girl. better to let grandparents make a call from their phone and talk to her. or let grandparents control the mobile you buy and let her use only when you call. dont get me wrong but i have seen really shameful videos of young indain girls posting on internet and insta tiktok etc... also many bad people out there. there are many ways they can contact her is on mobile as there is no way to control what she dose.
7 years is very young for a girl to use a mobile alone on her own. i would not give my daughter mobile till she is in her late teens and also still monitor it daily.
todays generation gets influenced very fast and want to be better than the other and this competition makes them do unethical things specially in that young age.
