MoH to recruit nurses from Vietnam and Madagascar

As the ban on recruitment from Philippines continues, and Indians top the numbers of expatriates in the country, Kuwait is exploring new countries to recruit the workers.

According to reports, Health ministry is planning to implement the instructions of Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) to bring manpower from new countries whose citizens represent a minority in Kuwait’s labor market.

The instructions were first issued by First Deputy Premier, Interior Minister and Acting Defense Minister Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, who is also responsible for PAM and Chairman of the Higher Committee to Remedy the Population Structure.

According to reports, the health ministry decided in its future plans to sign contracts with nursing and medical technical teams from Vietnam and Madagascar.

Contacts with these countries in this regard will start soon, reports said.

The staff from Vietnam and Madagascar will fill vacancies in hospitals and new healthcare centers and will end the need for nurses from other countries and open the door for the private sector to bring in labor from new countries. Contracts are likely to be between the health ministry and the workers or may be through specialized agencies.

In the next step, MoH is also eyeing countries like Nepal, Mongolia, and others to tap medical professionals.
