Indian player Prajnesh wins ITF men’s tournament held in Kuwait

Indian tennis player Prajnesh Gunneswaran won the ITF Kuwait men’s Open Tennis tournament held in Kuwait on Sunday. Prajnesh beat Khumoyun Sultanov of Uzbekistan 6-2, 7-6(5) in the final of the $25,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament held at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex at 360 mall.

The tournament was held in the presence of President of Kuwait and Arab Tennis Federations Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with the participation of 41 players from 19 countries. The final match was attended by Kuwait Tennis Federation Secretary General Faleh Al-Otaibi.

The 33-year-old Prajnesh was in a spot of trouble as he faced a set point in the 12th game on his serve, but pulled through to seal victory in the tie-break.

It was the 11th title in the professional circuit for Prajnesh, who was ranked a career-high 75th in 2019.
