William Shakespeare’s ‘A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Reimagined’ Comes Alive at FAIPS

On a pleasantly tranquil morning of February 12, 2024, FAIPS witnessed a grand spectacle as the students of Grade VI brought to life reimagined version of the famous play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by William Shakespeare, the greatest playwright to walk the face of the earth.

In a scintillating display of artistic brilliance, the stage of the school auditorium displayed the ethereal magic of Shakespeare’s timeless classic-‘A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream. The auditorium shimmered with the excitement and anticipation of parents and esteemed dignitaries alike, as the event promised love, magic, and fun.

The distinguished personages of the day comprised of the Chief Guest, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, His Excellency Major General Mohd Ashikuzzaman and Ms. Athari Al Ajmi – Student Affairs Director, MOE along with the Principal, Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Vice Principals, Headmistresses, Senior Mistresses, and proud parents.

The program commenced with the Principal's Address, where he extended warm wishes and best of luck to all participants. In addition, he shared the importance of activities like annual days and the role of parents’ support in moulding the young students to leaders of tomorrow. As the address concluded, the stage seamlessly transformed into the enchanting court of Athens, immersing the audience into the whimsical world of the fairies in the woods, guided by the daydreaming Lucy, the central character.

The play had the goal of encapsulating the spirit of Shakespeare's original work while also imbuing it with the pure and innocent imagination of a child. The actors brought the iconic characters to life, each one embodying the essence of love, mischief, and mysticism with unparalleled finesse

From the mischievous Puck to the romance of Hermia, Lysander, Helena & Demetrius every moment unfolded with an enchanting allure that left the audience bewitched. The young actors took the audience on a ride where they witnessed a melodious rendition by our young singers, followed by the Fairies' dance, the sinister Dance of the Evil Spirits, Mother Earth’s choristers, the French Poem and Song that added to the mirth of the forest and culminating with the energetic Hindi and Arabic dance.

Time stood still as the characters kept the audience spellbound by the magic of the unfolding scenes. As Lucy woke up from her dream, the play drew to a close drawing applause from the audience who had witnessed a Shakespearian play from a different angle.

The maiden theatrical journey was an unforgettable experience for our esteemed guests and parents alike. The day was a celebration of the arts and creativity that flourish within the school and was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of the teachers and the students who put their heart and soul into bringing this magnificent production to life.
