Shukran Kuwait

Kuwait and India enjoy a good, traditional and friendly relationship. Kuwait has a high-income economy -backed by the world's 6th largest oil reserves. India has been a natural trading partner of Kuwait and until 1961 Indian Rupee was the legal tender in Kuwait. As well the Kuwaiti Dinar is the highest valued currency in the world. Oil reserves were discovered in commercial quantities in 1938. The crude oil was exported for the first time in 1946.

Kuwait is a constitutional sovereign with a semi-democratic political system. Indians are more in Kuwait. Many are placed in white-collar jobs in electronic, industrial and engineering sector. Significant presence of Indians is available in medical field too. There are many Indian schools too, which are affiliated to CBSE and follow CBSE curriculum. Many Indian students pursue higher education in different Universities in Kuwait.

India-Kuwait relationships are good in trade too. India is the biggest importer of oil from Kuwait. India exports food products, tea and spices to Kuwait. India has also signed several agreements related to scientific and technology in cooperation with Kuwait.

The most auspicious and awaited time of the year in Kuwait is the Hala February, the festival that coincides with the National Day and Liberation Day of Kuwait. It’s celebrated on 25th and 26th February of every year.

The streets are filled with the colors of the National Flag with colorful lights; green, white, red and black. The National Flag is the most important symbol of the National Day celebration in Kuwait.

The Green symbolizes fertility; White symbolizes peace; Red symbolizes armed struggle during the quest for its independence and Black stands for the defeat of the country’s enemies.

I would like to pay my gratitude and best wishes for the nation, which has served to be my next motherland.

Thank You!!!
