Maa Tujhe Salaam

Republic Day is one of the 3 national holidays of India . Republic Day, marks the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect, which is on 26 January 1950. This replaced the Government of India Act 1935, thus turning the nation from a dominion into a republic. The constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950.

26 January was chosen as the date for Republic Day as it was on that day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.

The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India. On this day, ceremonious parades take place, which are performed as a tribute to India; its unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage.

On the eve of Republic Day, the President addresses the nation. The main event for the holiday is a massive parade held in the capital, New Delhi, which includes cultural, historical and military displays. the parade is preceded by the Prime Minister laying wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti-war memorial.

Smaller parades, cultural programs and public celebrations and private parties, take place throughout the country. Schools and Government offices will be closed. The Beating Retreat ceremony is held after officially denoting the end of Republic Day festive. It is conducted on 29th of January, which is the third day after Republic Day. this is performed by the bands of the three wings of the military, The Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air force.

The chief guest of this function is the President of India. The President distributes the Padma awards. Proud to be an Indian.

Jai Hind!!!!
