IES celebrated Grandparents Day

“Grandparents are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they're there.”

There is always something special about the relationship between children and their grandparents. They don’t always live with us but the emotional value we hold for them is unique and heartwarming. They help in molding and bringing up children with good values, affection, and discipline.

To mark respect and love towards all our wonderful grandparents, we the kindergarten wing of Indian Educational School, Kuwait, celebrated GRANDPARENT’S DAY on 11th September 2023.

‘Grandparents Day’ assembly was hosted by UKG B this year in the school auditorium. The grandparents of the kindergarteners who are residing in Kuwait were the special invitees for the event. The assembly commenced on a pious note with the prayer in English by Benita Sheeja Binoy followed by Quran recitation by Abdulla Jehangir Hossain. Aida Sara Prince administered the school pledge and Angel Anna Shins delivered the ‘Vision & Mission’ of the school meticulously. The thought for the day, “A grandparent is one who strengthens you with prayer, blesses you with love and encourages you with hope.” was presented by Jude Antony.

Evelyn Sara and Noah Alex eloquently introduced the theme of the assembly. The event had many impressive performances. The skit “Love Your Grandparents” reiterated the importance of relationships in a family and the fact that the members of a family are linked not only by blood but also by compassion, love, and support. The family video story was an emotional and exciting experience. It had family photos of all the children of UKG B along with their grandparents. The background Bollywood song, ‘Aashiyaana Tera, Saath Tera Hai Na’ added a nostalgic charm to the family video story. Last but not the least, the graceful dance on the song, “Tuj Me Rab Dikhta Hai’ kept the audience spell bound.

After the dance, the grandchildren showered their grandparents with immense love and respect by calling them on to stage to present bouquets and chocolates. With teary eyes and shaken voice, the grandparents hugged their little ones and thanked the headmistress and teachers for organizing a wonderful program. They praised the quality of each item presented and marveled at the confidence and diction of the children. It was a very emotional moment for all present, especially for those who missed their grandparents, and it delivered values of love, affection, and care to our young ones. Headmistress, Ms. Muneera Mammikutty, in her address, asked the children to always show love and respect to their grandparents by being in contact with them and obeying them. She requested the grandparents to keep the children rooted to our rich values, tradition, and culture so that they grow up into responsible global citizens. She thanked all the grandparents for their valuable presence and support. The program came to an end with the rendering of the Indian National Anthem.
