Although Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association- Kuwait Chapter (AMUOBA) established long back in Kuwait but it got registered six years back and the achievement in those years is remarkable. Believing in a democratic setup AMUOBA elects member of Executive Council every two years. The association has 14 members out of it 6 are chair holders and 8 are EC Members. This Executive Council work on behalf of the association. Once elected the first task before the council is to organize a General Body Meet, a meeting with all the alumni living in Kuwait.

AMUOBA conducted its first General Body Meet on 28th of January 2022 to discuss and present tentative plan to be carried out throughout the year, how to carry forward with the vision and mission for which AMUOBA is established.

This year due to the pandemic norms AMUOBA could not hold physical general body meet but organized it remotely on virtual platform ZOOM. The meeting was attended by renowned and respected members of the association.

It was a very well organized general body meet, it was convened by Mrs. Shazia Mansoor Dy. OSD of AMUOBA. The program started with the remembrance of Almighty Allah, Mr. Shahid Kalam EC Member of the association recited the verse from the holy Quran and translated for the easy understanding.

Later the meeting was addressed by the President of the association Mr. Aslam Parvez, he exhibited his desire to connect to all the Aligs living in Kuwait. His mission is to build the ambiance of togetherness and to work for the betterment of the community with the participation of all the alumni living in Kuwait.

He started his journey for the Presidential post with a motto “A home away from home” this is how he wanted to build a small world for the alumni of AMU living in Kuwait.

After taking charge this Executive Council launched its first calendar for the year 2022 which highlighted besides the date and the Ramadan timings, the programs which will be conducted by AMUOBA throughout the year and it has the details of all the 14 members of the executive Council. The launch of the calendar is attributed to Mr. Siraj Khan an Alumnus of AMU it was his idea which took shape under the aegis of Mr. Ahtesham Ullah Khan.

Another remarkable initiative is the issuance of membership card to all the registered members of the association, this brilliant idea is piloted by the duo-Mr. Syed Ameer Abbas, Mr. Kashif Husain EC MEMBERS of AMUOBA.

Later the program was handed over to the General Secretary Mr. Shadab Ashraf, he welcomed the alumni and emphasized on alumni’s participation in all the events which the association will carry out throughout the year.

He invited Joint Secretary Mr. Asif Eqbal to elaborate the programs which AMUOBA will conduct throughout the year.

Through the slides he presented not only the plan of the year but also how it will be carried out.

He also highlighted the financial position and emphasized on the need of becoming registered member of the association.

He very efficiently displayed and explained in detail how AMUOBA will contribute to the overall development of the community.

He emphasized on the need of arranging programs related to children and on outdoor activities, get together etc., so that the Alumni could interact with each other.

Besides many Aligs the meeting was attended by senior members of the association, previous presidents, chair holders and members of the executive council.

During the meeting, senior most alumnus Mr. Ashraf Ahmed Khan sb with his emotional short address created an aura of nostalgia, we all living here are longing for our university, we all carry AMU in our heart and we always wanted our university to prosper.

He also emphasized on the need of living in harmony and keep the flame of Sir Syed’s vision burning and spread the love and affection to the entire world.

Later in the program Mrs. Shazia Mansoor invited Mr. Ahmed Imroz Khan to take the question and answer session in which many queries were handled by the President of the association very effectively. Since the meeting was on virtual platform to make it interactive there was an open discussion in which everyone is free to put his or her views and to have a light chit chat with each other.

The program ended with the vote of thank from the Vice President of the Association Dr. Iram Chaudhary, she thanked all the members of the Executive Council as well as the members of the association for making it successful with her generous words.

The success of the event was the combined effort of all the members, be it those who were conducting the program or the members who contributed in form of ideas and suggestions to improvise. This exceptional back screen contribution is from the esteemed members of the council- Mr. Ahtesham Ullah Khan OSD and EC members- Mr. Taqi Hasan, Mr. Syed Nadeem Iftekhar, Mr. Masroor Alam, Mr. Syed Ameer Abaas, Mr. Adil Sareer, Mr. Kashif Husain. It would not have been possible without the active participation of all the 14 members of the Executive Council, it’s our tireless efforts which resulted in the first successful event organized by AMUOBA 2022-23
