The School Supreme Council Swears in at Bhavans

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Bhavans) in a superiorly striking fashion, invested the insignia of authority with 15 elected members of the ‘student supreme council’ of the school along with the prefects, house captains, vice captains, junior captains and the office bearers from the primary wing namely ‘blossoms.’ The luminous presence of Mr. Michael Gamerl, the Vice President, Princeton Review, USA added lustre and grace to the occasion.

The newly designated supreme council members and the flag bearers of the four houses of the school have been democratically elected by the students of Bhavans, Kuwait. The election was indeed a simulation of the parliament elections back in India as Bhavans has always striven to foster the sense of ‘secularism and democracy’ among its student community. More than 90 worthy contestants filed their nominations for different positions. All the nominations were scrutinized by the election commission of Bhavans whose head was Mr. T. Premkumar, the principal, Bhavans. An ardent campaign was held in the campus prior to the election. An open-forum discussion conducted in the school hall also enabled the voters to communicate to the contestants. The election was conducted on April 26, 2017. The student voters used their franchise with the help of a special software designed by the IT department of the school. Mr. T. Premkumar, the principal of IES officially announced the election results the same day amid booming applause and jollity.

The investiture of the academic year 2017-2018 was materialized in the school auditorium on May 03, Wednesday at 8 a.m. The ceremony was attended by Bhavans family comprising teachers and the senior secondary students as well as the special invitees including two prominent personalities in the field of education and career guidance, namely Mr. Haridas Panavally, the Test Prep Head, Score Plus Kuwait Learning Center and Mr. Vijay Kumbhar, the Vice President, Emirates Score Plus.

The events of the eventful day came to life with the decorous ‘marching in’ of the student supreme council to the investiture venue with gauged steps and swinging arms in sync with drum beats and band music.

Mr. Michael Gamerl, the chief guest for the day adorned the supreme council members and house captains of IES with their insignia – badges, sashes, and flags while the auditorium reverberated with rolling applause and excited cheering. The Head Boy (Ketan Maheshwari), The Head Girl (Meghavarnika Budati), the Junior Head Boy (Rohit Raj),The Junior Head Girl (Elizabeth Hannah George ), The Deputy Head Boy (Mathew Philip),The Deputy Head Girl (Alana Ann Prakash),The Cultural Secretaries,( Shiv Govind Dahima and Malavika Mavath),The Sports Captains (Karthik Sivakumar and Anupama M Nair), The Deputy Sports Captains (Vignesh Sivakumar and Kiara Czarina Reaven), The Public Relations Officer (Urvish P Chokshi), The Deputy Public Relations Officer (Nawal Syed), and The Student Editor (Sumaiya Asif Syed ) were bestowed upon the adornments of their authority by the chief guest.

The excitement reached its pinnacle when the oath of allegiance for the newly elected student parliament was administered by the head of the institution, Mr. T. Premkumar.

When the young leaders with an unswerving sense of commitment had sworn in by taking the oath of office, the auditorium once again resonated with roaring applause.

The newly anointed heads of the Supreme Council Ketan Maheshwari and Meghavarnika Budati delivered their acceptance speeches which were infused with devotion to the institution and duteousness toward the student community of their school.

Mr. Michael Gamerl was presented a memento conjointly by Mr. T. Premkumar, principal, Bhavans Kuwait and Mr. Mahesh Iyer, principal, SIS Kuwait as a token of Bhavans’ gratitude.

The leadership matters. This school is a school with a difference. Children stand out in their behaviour and performer. This morning I was there at school when the announcements were made about the Kuwait times prize winners. The tone of the announcement made me imagine the leader's happiness about his children's accomplishments. School has encouraged my child so much that I have seen the marked difference in all area. Mr. Ram has built a name with a team behind him who are giving their best and the school has not just grown in size but in name as well. Otherwise with the cost of education so high I will never venture. The school must have more facilities by moving to a larger place and out of abbasia.

Congratulations to the student leaders of Bhavans. Thanks Principal and Chairman sirs for the live streaming. Students have to be trained to be leaders and Bhavans is a school with a difference as the American guest placed his appreciation it is a great school to be though the outdoor facilities are far less for kids to burn their energy. The leaders of tomorrow must look after the children especially primary children who are mostly bullied by the seniors in the bus. We parents are there with Principal and teachers always. We want to be the best.
