The Real Boss

IT’S INDIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!! SOMEONE GET THE COLORS!!! IMMA SHOW MY BROTHER WHO’S THE REAL BOSS!

Now… I didn’t scream this out loud, if that’s what your absolutely wonderful brain is being flooded with, rather I SCREAMT it out loud. Unfortunately folks, it didn’t cause any sorts of intimidation but resulted in me being drenched in color by the end of the day. Trust me when I say that was a menace to get rid of, quite the workout to be honest.

Do you know what’s special about 15th August? I’ll give you a chance to guess as some old man who had a chirping nest for hair once said (Insert a high squeak.) ‘Imagination is key to Innovation.’

What did you say? My birthday? No, silly, though I might send you an invitation now that you asked, why thank you. My chicken’s birthday? Oh no, Flappy’s is on the 3rd of February, not that I own a chicken but… next guess please! This is the last one so let’s make it a good one! Indian Independence day? Ahh yes, yes indeed. You guessed it right!

(Insert a heavy British accent.) A thunderous applause for our prodigiously patriotic, uhm… Mr. or Ms. or Mrs., Merlin’s beard there’s a lot of possibilities, anyway back to the intelligent soul who guessed it right, give a clap on your back mate, that was bloody brilliant!

You all probably know and have studied the Freedom Struggle of India, 15th August pretty much being embedded into your taste buds. You’re pretty much set for answering the world’s biggest question, “What does 15th of August taste like?”

With all the jokes aside and with pride beyond words that don’t possess existence even in the wildest of imaginations, drown over me as I, without any signs of crippling hesitance, proclaim myself as a citizen of the Indian nation.

Even after 73 long years, India though facing many hiccups along the way has come out strong and fierce. Indian Independence Day isn’t merely the day when freedom struck the Indian nation but stands as an embodiment of the heart wrenching struggles and sacrifices made by the great leaders who lead their followers to the ultimate goal of freedom.

It is a memoir which roars a fire in the hearts of the Indian citizens, a blazing fire that can never be extinguished even with the largest of tsunamis, the fire of patriotism.

Clenching a torch of this fire, deep in my heart, I can rightly say that even after a humongous heap of struggles and tense problems, India has come out stronger than ever with unity of such heights that can take on the entire world.

Don’t worry I’m not possessed. For those who think I’m speaking gibberish, not to worry. In simpler words, I’m proud to be an Indian Citizen, I’m proud of all the struggles and sacrifices our beloved freedom fighters have made, I’m proud to be a Hindustani.

I have a little show for you, wanna see? Well… you have no other choice really, unless you stop reading that is. I guess you do have a choice but trust me, this is a show never seen before, a show legends have never revealed before. I know I said it wasn’t seen before; you’re too smart for me alright, anyway onto the show.

(Insert a dramatic soundtrack with a Desi Indian accent, you know what I mean Indians.) Namaste bhaiyon aur bhenon. I shall read you a letter sent from one of our beloved viewers. Here we go, shall we?!

“How many of you have just looked at your eraser and just went... ‘Appreciate ya bud!’ because even an Eraser has feelings!!!! Why do I know erasers so well....? Uh...... let's just say there has been a crime in the vicinity and what needed to be done has been done and my owner is thus long gone. I, Sir Eraser, inform every single eraser out there, you don't deserve to be mistreated!!!!

For centuries we've been ill-treated. Stored away in dark chambers, enlightening our souls with fear beyond imagination. Monstrous creatures lurking in the shadows of the confined, dark and cold chambers, tease us and walk over us like as if we were the mere dust on their innumerable feet. For I, I repeat, Sir Mr. Eraser, to have unfortunately go over such pathetic and horrible past with an ignorant and heartless monster who I'm ashamed to call my owner, someone who I despise to the core of my bones. She used me, to erase lines and writing, lines standing testimony to the strings of her perfectionism being torn apart and countless errors which I removed out of existence. After all this, she decided to neglect me, throw me around to another malicious male giant, apparently her brother and left me along with other erasers of my kind in the dawning darkness of the frightening nights and it’s equally monstrous creatures. Those wicked, ugly beasts looked no less than the servants of the Cursed Sorcerer himself, apparently called cockroaches in human language. I have been blessed by the gods with the exceptional quality of being able to communicate in human language. For all the erasers listening to this, rise up and stand in protest for we shall not be treated like the sole of a shoe but instead be given our rights!!! OUR FREEDOM!!!! ”

Oh that was… wonderful. Well viewers sadly it’s time to say goodbye, see you in another episode of… Your Dream Show!!!

Random huh? Well… sadly if this same ‘letter’ was stolen of humor, it would quite resemble India during its darkest but yet strongest of times. Sir Eraser and his followers were the countless leaders and the Indian citizens used and exploited by the British for their own needs and tossed around from places to places to work as laborers. The monstrous beasts of the night, would be the full-time devils who were the planters who forced farmers and laborers to work overtime, paying them with no or minimal wages.

Despite these dark and scary clouds, Indians fought back and roared blazing sunshine onto the Indian lands. They fought against the wrong doings and downright imprisonment of the British and finally, after the death of many brave souls, India received freedom on the 15th of August, 1947.

May all those souls be blessed by the divine for their innumerable contributions, sacrifices and unbreakable courage. May their souls rest in peace.

Let us all pay our respects and share pride with our fellow Indians, for its Indian Independence day! and you still have to show who’s the real boss, right?

!!JAI HIND!!
