MP Dr. Hisham Al-Saleh wants health minister to address Nurses issues

Member of Parliament Dr. Hisham Al-Saleh urged the Minister of health to expedite and address the issues faced by the Nursing community.

The nursing community play an important role in supporting the medical sector and advancing the level of health care service in the country and their role increased in the society with the spread of the Corona pandemic, Parliamentarian Dr. Hisham Al-Saleh said.

Kuwaitization rate in the health sector is only 4 percent, which is the lowest among all government agencies and the sector is witnessing a sign of a deep crisis, MP said.

About 1,600 male and female nurses have resigned from service since the outbreak of the pandemic. The number of staff was decreased by 10 percent during the past 15 months. Recently a contracting company had terminated about 600 nurses, who are contracted to work as nurses under MoH and all these signals a shortage crisis of nursing community, MP said.

He urged the Minister of Health to develop an urgent plan to attract Kuwaitis to the nursing professions. He also asked the minister to explain the measures taken by the Ministry to protect the nurses from exploitation by private companies including the delay in paying their salaries and poor living conditions, which leads to further resignation of nursing cadres from the country.
