Chroma 2018, in Memoriam

Indian Educational School, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait solemnized the award ceremony of ‘Chroma 2018,’ for the winners of Ruth Memorial Interschool Art Contest, an art contest organized by the parents of late Ruth, on 10th November 2018, in the premises of IES for the budding artists to showcase their magical imagination in vivid hues. Though the contest was initially organized only for Bhavanites, later another gracious gesture of the founder and patron of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, expanded this platform for the budding artists of all the Indian schools by making it a much acclaimed interschool event.

The ceremony was graced by the Guests of Honour Mr. Prince Chacko and Mrs. Preethi Chacko (the parents of late Ruth, who left for her heavenly abode while being a Bhavanite in Grade 1, so dear to her teachers), the principal, Mr. T. Premkumar, Vice Principals of IES, Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan and Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, teachers, parents of the winners and the faculty members of the Department of Art. The audience comprised grade 8 students, the classmates of Ruth’s sister, Riya. Mrs. Muneera Mammikutty (Head of the Department, English, Primary Wing) welcomed the gathering.

An artist is formed when she reads the soul of the nature. An artist becomes proficiently professional when she dives into the unending and unbound wide spectrum of the core of art. 93 aspiring artists from 9 Indian Schools in Kuwait participated in Chroma 2018 under 5 categories. Students from various schools bagged prizes in different categories. The names of the winners of first position in each category are: LKG & UKG- Eshaal Sinan (Smart Indian School), CLASSES 1 & 2 Dhanashree (Carmel), CLASSES 3&4 Fatima Siddique Palakkal (United Indian School, CLASSES 5&6 Anita Tressa Benny (FAIPS, DPS) and CLASSES 7,8&9 Yadukrishnan Mukundan of (Indian Educational School). The awards were given away by Mrs. Preethi Chacko and Mr. Prince Chacko, the Guests of Honour.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Prince Chacko addressed the students with a reminiscing quote ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going,’. Remembering their dear Ruth, the audience could not but hold the tears back as the dear father of their dearest Ruth spoke about her.

Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal, IES, expressed his gratitude to the parents of late Ruth, felicitated the winners, and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Art. He also acknowledged the fine gesture of Mrs. Vineetha Maheswari (former HoD Science and Mathematics, Primary Wing) who composed a poem as a tribute to the incomparable artist Ruth.

The event came to an end with the reading of the poem in memory of late Ruth by Mrs. Muneera Mammikutty (HoD, English, Primary Wing) who further proposed the vote of thanks. Little Ruth had withered away before the artist in her could dive a little deeper into the mysterious world of art to embrace the essence of artistic splendour. The art contest and the ensuing prize distribution ceremony had indeed found its way back to her through the budding artists who marvelled in Chroma 2018, In Memoriam.
