ASSE Kuwait Chapter Conducted Technical Meet on Roles of Engineers in Accident Prevention and  Innovation in Welfare Facilities”

American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, Non-profit Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region.

As a part of continuous efforts in its professional journey, ASSE-Kuwait Chapter organized its 227th technical meet (9th for the term 2017-18) on “1. Roles of Engineers in Accident Prevention 2. Innovation in Welfare Facilities” in Kuwait Oil Company Tent on 13th May 2018.

The Technical Meet began with the Opening address by Mr. Sunil N Sadanandan, Chapter Secretary, briefed about the chapter activities. Mr. Muhammad Alamgir, President of ASSE Kuwait welcomed the participants and appreciated their participation in the technical meet and highlighted the importance of attending the Technical meets.

Mr. Sunil introduced the speakers for the day Mr. Karthikeyan & Mr. Amjad Al-Saleh.

Mr. Karthikeyan is a safety professional with 26 years of working experience in upstream and downstream oil industry in middle east. He holds an Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Calicut and Master’s Degree in Industrial Safety Engineering from NIT Trichy, India. He worked in various HSE positions in Saudi Aramco and KNPC. Currently he is working for Chevron-KGOC Joint Operations in Kuwait. Mr. Karthikeyan in his presentation briefed about the engineers role on the various stages of the project right from the conceptual stage to the final implemenation and how safety can be inclulcated in each stage, so that accident prevention can be ensured while it is utilized.

Mr. Amjad is the Managing Partner & Founder of Reliance Worldwide Catering Co. W.L.L. Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Management, Vincennes University, Indiana, USA. 34 years of experience in hospitality management. Expert in the industry of consolidated food & consumer services, tailored to MEGA upstream & downstream segments. A key member of Reliance Corporate Social Responsibility & Energizer of best-environment & health pro-activeness. Mr. Karthikeyan given the presentation on “Innovation in Welfare Facilities” Mr. Amjad explained the e-toilet which have been installed at the various key location in Kuwait.The self automated functions and enviroment friendly e-toilets can be located via GPS and is really innovative concept for the welfare of the community

Eng. Faisal Dweeh Al-Attal, Chairman of Board of Directors, Kuwait Society of Engineers graced the occasion as chief guest. He acclaimed the activities of the ASSE Kuwait in promoting the HSE in state of Kuwait.

Attendees actively participated in the technical sessions and found it interesting. The presentations were followed by Question and Answer session where the gifts were given to the answered participants.

As an Honor of Appreciation, ASSE Kuwait chapter Core Committee along with Eng. Faisal Dweeh Al-Attal honored the speakers Mr. Karthikeyan & Mr. Amjad Al-Saleh with mementos.

The Technical Meet concluded with close out speech of Mr. Aamir Rasheed, Vice President of ASSE Kuwait Chapter who thanked Kuwait Society of Engineer Chairman Eng. Faisal Dweeh Al-Attal, for being the chief guest and supporting the ASSE Kuwait by providing the venue for conducting the technical meet. Mr. Aamir Rasheed thanked the speakers for giving an insight on the topics, and also thanked advisory committee members Mr. Ashok Garlapati & Mr. Mohammad K S Mohiuddeen for gracing the occasion, Mr. Aamir Rasheed extended the gratitude to the chapter secretary Mr. Sunil Sadanandan & Chapter Executive Venkata Ramana for the arrangements made for the program and thanked all the participants who attended the technical meet.
