As part of year-long Silver Jubilee celebrations of SMCA Kuwait, the Syro Malabar Youth Movement and the Blood Donors Kerala- Kuwait Chapter jointly organized a blood donation camp. At the blood donation drive, which was held at the Adan Blood Bank on Friday, December 4 from 1 pm to 6 pm, 138 out of 148 people registered successfully donated blood even in the adverse weather conditions. The camp was also organized to address the blood shortage faced by the Kuwait Blood Bank in the Covid situation.
Syro Malabar Episcopal Vicar Fr. Johnny Lonis Mazhuvanchery officially inaugurated the blood donation drive. He especially lauded the Syro-Malabar Cultural Association for bringing forward the great work of blood donation in the jubilee activities in this time when the whole world is facing the Covid epidemic. The meeting was presided over by SMCA President Sunil Rappuzha. SMYM President Bijoy Joseph, Reghubal BDK, BDK Patron Manoj Mavelikkara and Advisory Board Member Rajan Thottathil extended a felicitation message.
SMCA General Secretary Biju P Anto, Joint Secretary Leo Jose Kollannur and Social Committee member Lijo Jose handed over the plaque of appreciation to BDK for the successful organization of the camp. President Sunil Rappuzha received the certificate for blood donors from BDK. Treasurer Wilson expressed gratitude on behalf of SMCA.
SMCA Silver Jubilee General Convener Bijoy Palakkunnel coordinated the event. Abbasiya, Kuwait City, Farwaniya, Salmiya and Fahaheel Area Office bearers attended the function. The SMCA Social Welfare Committee, headed by Saji George, made arrangements for those arriving at the camp as donors.
The year-long SMCA Silver Jubilee Celebrations, officially inaugurated on November 29, 2019, at 5 pm in the courtyard of Abbasiya Indian Central School, will end on January 1, 2021.
BDK Volunteers Nalinakshan, Rosmin Soyuz, Deepu Chandran, Venugopal, Praveen Kumar, Ramesan, Nimish Kavalam, Soyuz, Jolly Paulson, Beena, Ajith Chandran and Benny Paulos led the camp.
This was the Ninth Blood Donation Camp of 2020 organized by Blood Donors Kerala – Kuwait chapter through the involvement of different socio-cultural organizations in Kuwait.
