Ramadan: The Holy Month

Ramadan the ninth month of Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting it begins and end accordingly to the islamic calandra which is a bit different compared to normal calendar Ramadan lies in different months earlier than 10-12 days than the last time so that it can lie in every month throughout 33 year cycle.

It is the month were Muslim fast for 30 days from sun rise to sunset it’s a month were we recite the holy book (Quran) and offering compulsory prayers ( salat) before starting the fast before the sun rise people do have a meal with is known as (suhur) after the suhur

They pray the ( fajar) and start their fast wile fasting they pray and recite Quran

And remember Allah then before the sunset family prepares the most beautiful spread of food food for breaking the fast which is known as (iftar) In this month muslim also have to give charity which is known as (zakat) it’s compulsory to give but it’s not compulsory for the poor after the iftar people gather in mosques to offer a special salat together which is known as ( tarawih) the night prayer in Ramadan the night are very powerful and hence people stay up at night and pray for their self and family in Ramadan the most beautiful and the most important days are the last 10 night of the month with is known as [laylatalqadr] in these nights people Stay up whole night and pray together in mosques for forgiveness and ask help from allah.

Ramadan is also known for its special time of the day which is known as iftar the time when family members sits together and break their fast before breaking the fast families members or especially the ladies of the house pepperes delicious spread of food for the family members the foods which are made are very healthy and hole some because they want to fulfill their nutrients that they need. The fast is break with dates and water and also sweeten milk as it was the custom of Prophet Muhammad. for iftar people invite their extended family members and break their fast together iftar it’s the time were whole family gathers together and have the most beautiful time together with their traditional food and spend quality time in the rememberence of Allah

Ramadan is the month of fasting but it’s not only for fasting it’s for remembering allah asking for forgiveness repentance and ask for forgiveness of our sins it’s the month for worship allah and ask for his guidance for life it’s for helping people in need and also the most beautiful month for Muslim. it’s important for to fast but it’s prohibited for the people such as travelling long distance kids before hitting puberty old people who have to take compulsory medication and pregnancy

At the end of the Ramadan eid al fitr is celebrated it is the major religious holiday of Muslim calendar it’s the day we’re family gathered together and celebrate their fast at this day whole family goes to the mosque at the sunrise and perform a very special prayer which is known as Eid prayer after the Eid prayer family members visits each other and wishes the Eid at this day peopl give gifts to each other especially Money to the young people of the family with is known as (eidi) family members gather together with wide spread of food and enjoy together rest of the day and wait for the next Ramadan to come.
