Kinship of Kuwait and India

Posted on 2/17/2019

It was a hot Saturday morning Raju a little boy who lives in Kuwait came crying to his grandma. She asked him why he was crying. He replied "grandma....(sob!) while I was playing in the ground a Kuwaiti boy shouted at me to go home and never come back since it was his country..”
At first his grandma smiled and then she pacified him" Ha.. ha.....That is all! My dear boy now stop crying .If it happens again we shall go and complain to the owner of this building”.

Still Raju was Furious, but replied politely “What if the building owner make the same statement, grandma I wonder why these people are so bad to the Indians” .
“Oh my boy! that can never be true, in fact, Kuwait and India had a good relationship in the past. Till 1961, the Kuwait used our Indian rupees ”said the grandma.
“Really grandma!! But I heard that Iraq was also a good friend of India. So won’t this statement affect at the time of Iraqi invasion.”

Grandma answered , “well, although India and Iraq shared a good relationship, India stood at the side of truth and supported Kuwait.”

Now Raju felt happy and was proud to be an Indian and said, “I guess India is such a country which has a good relationship with every other countries”.
Grandma nodded her head and then said “In olden days , Kuwaiti sailors came to India for trade . They used to bring wooden Dhows filled with dates, Arabian horses and pearls for our wood, cloths and spices..

Raju was amazed and then said “Wow! but is there any evidences for their old relationships ?”

His grandma answered his question “Well, the relation started from 1962. But from the recent discoveries of Artifacts from the Kuwaiti Island, Failaka points, commercial and cultural interaction between the two countries dating back several million years”.

Raju was astonished by this fact.

She continued..” Currently Kuwait is the source for 10-12% of India’s oil imports while India is among the largest trade partners of Kuwait. Also, India and Kuwait have many agreements in different fields like Cultural and Economical along with Scientific technological and Medical Corporation”.

Raju happily said, “Thanks grandma, now I understood these facts, but grandma how many years do you think Kuwait’s and India’s relationship would stay?”
“I think it would stay for about 250 years from now..” replied grandma…

Raju became more confident now. And that evening he went out to play with his friends in the ground….
