Kuwait and India Relationship

Kuwait and India has a very good diplomatic relationship. The two countries have a friendly tie. The population of Kuwait contains 9, 89,000 Indians. The majority of these originate from the South Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Most of the Indians travel to Kuwait for jobs. Most of the oil to India is exported by Kuwait and Kuwait and India has a good business and trade relationship. India is one of the largest trade export partner of Kuwait. In early times Kuwait used Indian currency. The current Amir of Kuwait is HIS HIGHNESS Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. On 30 September 2020, he succeeded to the throne following the death of his cousin HIS HIGHNESS Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabha.

The current Ambassador of India to Kuwait is SHRI SIBI GEORGE. He is from Kottayam District in the southern state of Kerala in India, he belongs to Podimattam family of Pala. A gold medalist both for his graduation and post-graduation, he also holds diploma in Arabic Language from American University in Cairo. Most of the development of relationship between Kuwait and India was in the year 2020-21 and marks 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relationship between two countries. Kuwait has exported oxygen cylinders to India in critical situations during pandemic. Many minerals and raw materials was exported to India by Kuwait. Major items to be exported from India to Kuwait in a broad range including food items, iron and steel, textiles, garments, electrical and engineering equipment, machinery and mechanical appliances, ceramic products, vehicles tyre, metal products, etc.
