Writers’ Forum, Kuwait Summer Rhythms

At the residence of Umesh Sharma, the Writers’ Forum, Kuwait (WFK) held its monthly meeting on Friday, the 30th of June. The soaring temperatures in Kuwait did not deter the evening fiesta of literary compositions that the WFK members relish every month.

The President of WFK- Maimuna Chougle presided over the meeting, while Dr Arvind Raina was invited to be the Chief Guest for the evening. The meeting was conducted by its Joint Secretary - Sunil Sonsi.

After a brief introduction of WFK for the new attendees, the first session began by Afroz Alam presenting an article on the noted Urdu poet- Dr Kalim Kaiser and Sunil Sonsi read a short story titled: Dua Kijiye, which was centred on communal harmony. Biswa Ranjan presented an article in Oriya on the importance of charity—Daan.

In the second session, Afroz Alam, S. Nazar Kadpawi and S. Qamar Minto recited poetry in Urdu. Nadir Aziz recited a poem in Urdu, which was penned by his mother. A poem in Hindi was recited by Umesh Sharma and one in Kannada, by Ameer Uddin Ameer. Mohan Singh read out a poem in English, which was penned by his daughter Parminder Kaur.

Also present in the meeting were Satish Kumar, Usha Kumar, Ali Chougle, Aminah Japanwala, and Ainy Chougle.

Towards the culmination of the evening, the Chief Guest-Dr Arvind Raina recited his poem in Hindi and expressed his opinions on the evening’s deliberations. Maimuna Chougle gave her Presidential remarks at the conclusion of the meeting, followed by a vote of thanks by Sunil Sonsi.
