Reminiscing the old Bollywood Movies at Zaika Restaurant

Kuwait plays host to a number of theme-based Indian restaurants but Zaika a multi- cuisine restaurant has something unique. It’s the first Indian restaurant in Kuwait created on a Bollywood theme. Zaika is a classic Bollywood themed restaurant bringing nostalgic memories of the stars and movies which are immortal in our Minds.

When you enter Zaika you feel as if you have gone back to the Golden Era of Bollywood. The décor, ambience, music and visuals sweep you into a wonderful experience that is a tribute to 1970's - 80's Glorious years of Indian Cinema. Posters of Bollywood films like Sholay, Mughal -E- Saat, Prem Granth, Mother India etc adorn on the walls making Zaika truly magical setting transporting you to a world of glamour, drama and enchantment from the moment you walk in. With TV screens featuring the film songs and chandeliers hanging from every corner, this little gem of a restaurant is a rare find and a true testimony to its name that means “flavours” in Hindi. We learnt that the posters which adorned the walls are original and brought from Mumbai, India.

Zaika Restaurant offers a selective versatile menu that is high quality, delicious, and sensibly priced in a wholesome friendly atmosphere. The uniqueness of the menu is that it blends well with the restaurant's theme. Pictures of all dishes arranged as a film reel at the bottom of the menu.

As we sat in this cosy restaurant the Steward placed a basket of papadums, a thin, crisp Indian preparation with chutney and presented us with the menu. Menu offered a variety of dishes from the different regions of India and steward guided us along in selecting their specialities.

For starters we ordered Chicken Lollipop which the children just enjoyed. For main course we ordered Goan Fish Curry, Chicken Kolhapuri, Mutton Fry Hyderabadi Style, Chicken Hyderabadi Biriyani, Mixed Grill and for Vegetarian dish we ordered Paneer Tika Masala and Mix Bread Basket.

Their Chicken Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani is unique and very different than any other Hyderabadi Biriyani I tasted recently. It has a unique flavour and was mouth-watering. The neat presentation of the biriyani will surely make you want for more.

Goan Fish Curry was tangy and spicy. Sea Food lovers will surely love this. It was rich, creamy and delicious. To put more aptly it was finger-licking delicious (pun intended). The mesmerizing flavour of Chicken Kolhapuri (Boneless pieces of Chicken, cooked with special spices gravy) is an excellent dish with Roties. All dishes were irresistible, tasty and had unique flavours.

For drinks we ordered Ginger Lemon Refresh- chunk of ginger put in lemon Juice a great drink during this winter season. PinaColada a unique Pineapple Juice made with coconut milk and Vanilla Ice-cream was amazing, and Blue River Refresh again another unique drink.

Zaika restaurant is located in Salmiya Block 10, at Sarah Complex. The place is also ideal for Birthday Parties, Business meetings, Kitty Parties etc. They have a projector arrangement also, which can be utilized for parties and gatherings. A separate party hall with a 50 people capacity is also available.

Zaika offers home delivery service. All food is prepared fresh and delivered in durable microwavable containers for ease of eating at home. They also offer corporate catering and outdoor catering services which has gained popularity in the community.

Would I go back? YES for sure anytime for more Indian food siting amidst Bollywood Legends.

There is nothing better than an extra-ordinary theme-based ambiance-food-service package that can give you such an over-all enjoyable experience.

If I have to summarize my eating experience at Zaika in few words then this is what I would like to say:

“Eating at Zaika is like enjoying a full length Bollywood feature film with all the masala (in the food of course).”
