Recommendation to cut expats’ cars older than 10 years in Kuwait

A study carried out by a technical committee assigned to find solutions to the traffic problems recommended cut down the number of cars owned by expatriates which are older than 10 years. According to a local report, the study concluded that there are thousands of vehicles aged between 10 and 20 years which cause pollution, increase risks of road accidents, contribute to the traffic jams’ problem and put added pressure on subsidized fuel consumption.

The report added that a majority of those cars are owned by marginal, low-wage expatriate laborers. The recommendation also is in line with demands made by the Environment Public Authority earlier, which had called for a solution to the pollution problem caused by old vehicles in Kuwait.

Better cancel the driving licenses for expats, ask them to come only on bicycles or by walk. Remove all subsidies to expats and make their salaries half or quarter only.

This will solve all the problems in Kuwait at one time.....

No such recommendation? Probably next year this will come.

It is surprising that 10 year old vehicles of expatriates cause pollution, while similar vehicles owned by Citizens do not cause pollution.
