Proposal to limit number of cars an expatriate can own

Parliamentarian Dr. Abdullah Al-Tariji MP submitted a proposal to limit the number of vehicles that an expatriate is allowed to own and register in his name.

According to his proposal, expatriate should be prohibited from registering more than two vehicles in his name for personal use. A fee should be imposed on each vehicle in excess of the two, he said in his proposal.

According to him, a large number of old vehicles owned by expatriates in the country are roaming the streets, which cause congestion, chaos and traffic accidents. These cars also occupy space in public grounds, parking lots of schools, mosques and shopping malls.

He also said that according to news circulating, some expatriates own upto 50 cars in his name.

Whats the use ?? An expat can not driver more than 1 vehicle at a time. So this move will not have any impact on the traffic.

As far as Parking issues are concern, the law says - every REsidential Building must use its underground for Parking. Is this rule being followed ??Even if half the total no. of Building follow this rule, the parking problem in the country would get solved for ever !!

Pls make one car for one family.. this is more than enough for one family. Those families without car how they are running family. Why others can''t live with one car per family. This will decrease the unwanted car parking and reduce traffic as well

This is a shortsighted view, it will only curb those expats doing illegal selling of cars. If they really want to make a difference in road traffic, get in metro trains, expats will be happy to use this. Every expat in Kuwait will have 1 or maximum 2 cars under his/her name. Recommendation would be to have this per household not individual expats.

GOOD & FAIR PROPOSAL... 2 CARS free and if more pay up..
it will definitely clear many parking areas in public grounds, parking lots of schools, mosques and shopping malls....
