My Gratitude and Salute to the Super Heroes of our Lives

Teachers are one of the most important members of the society. They play a crucial role in the mental, physical and all round development of a child. They aim not only to teach their subject to the students but try to impart moral, social and cultural education to a child. They also play the role of a psychologist as they can read the emotions of a student and thus guide them accordingly. They shape our mind and the way we look at the world. Thus they help us to be a good human being in the society and a good citizen of the country. A teacher’s job is a very challenging job. In a class there are varieties of students. To take them together in the journey of education is not easy. Also at the same time it’s a challenging job. Due to pandemic , our world became topsy turvy. We stopped going to school and the method of imparting education too changed all of a sudden. Virtual education became a reality. Teachers took it as a challenge and started learning the methods and various tools for online teaching to make their teaching more productive. As it was lockdown in most part of the world, teachers had to think creatively to use limited resources to make their teaching fun and effective. They have proved to the world how important is the education of their students to them and to what extend they would go to help them. Apart from adapting themselves to the new pattern of imparting education , they were conscious and had the added pressure that they would be judged by parents.Still all of them are doing their best with their limited resources as education can’t stop due to a lockdown. My heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to each one of them. They are the super heroes in our lives.

We need teachers and guidance in every step of our life. Anyone in our life who teaches and guides us to move forward in life, who gives lessons of life to me, is a teacher. My love, respect and gratitude to all the people in my life who taught me lot of things in every small to big way and has contributed in my transformation from a baby to a young girl. A very happy teacher’s day to all.

In today’s materialistic, competitive and vindictive world, we need to be mentally strong to live a successful life. Life is complex and it’s our mental strength that helps us to face our failures and pressures. The important life lessons we get from our teachers and parents help us to face this world. Thus we can’t think of an educated strong progressive society without teachers. Teaching is a big responsibility in this world. Teachers are the storehouse of knowledge who believes in passing on their knowledge to their students who will assist in building a better world in the future. The only way we can give back to the hard work of the teachers is by becoming good human beings. Teacher’s Day is dedicated to the teachers and mentors who guide and train us to be better human beings.

We all are grateful to our teachers, mentors, and gurus who play a crucial role in building the future, but do we know the history behind this Teachers’ Day celebration? Teacher’s Day is celebrated on September 5 to mark the birth anniversary of our former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He served as the first Vice President of India (1952-1962) and the second President of India (1962-1967) .When he became the second President of India in 1962, his students were eager to celebrate his birthday as ‘Radhakrishnan Day’ but he refused their idea by saying “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ Day.” Ever since then, his birthday is observed as Teachers’ Day all over the country.

Thus the observance of Teachers’ Day all over the world signifies the importance of teachers in our lives. The celebration of this day is an honour that is imparted to the teachers for their infinite contributions in our lives. Dr. Radhakrishnan in his book, “Political Thinkers of Modern India” indicated the significance of teachers and education in a democratic country like India. According to him, teachers play a massive role in the building of the nation and for that reason, they deserve more respect.

My salute to the architects of the society and the world.
