Kuwait Municipality cancels spring camping season

Kuwait Municipality on Thursday said it will be cancelling this year's camping season leaning on the Health Ministry's reports advising this action for safety of citizens in battling the COVID-19 spread.

General Director of the Municipality department (Eng.) Ahmad Al-Menfuhi gave a statement saying, the ministerial experts met today and put forth this decision based on international reports at hand on the current status of the virus and a potential second wave.

Al-Menfuhi added, the topic of elections campaigning and the general elections process were discussed, as the Health Ministry has also advised on canceling (for obvious reasons).

He also pointed out the health restrictions will continue to be implemented by the commercial entities, including retailer shops and hotels, which amount to 86 percent, according to the Health Ministry's periodic monitoring.

Many citizens, namely young ones, eagerly await the camping season, which coincides with the fall, to take a break from civilization and camp in the desert to enjoy moderate weather following the hot summer, calm and simplicity of the surrounding.
