IES Holds Session on Anger Management

A session on Anger Management for the students of grades 6-8 was conducted at Indian Education School, Kuwait on 22nd January 2020. The speaker of the day was Ms. Priyanka Baranwal - an author, a blogger and a guitarist and a parent of IES.

The session commenced with her perceptions on anger and its impact on our relationship. She emphasized the need to accept anger as an integral part of our personality and the benefits one could reap, apart from the drawbacks. She underscored the fact that for every minute that one is angry, one loses 60 seconds of happiness.

Ms.Priyanka expounded the possible signs one could identify in one’s own anger like shouting, yelling, screaming, silence, revenge, inability to focus, itching sensation and also the methods to deal with anger like avoiding negative thoughts, reducing constant feelings of irritation, impatience, hostility, preventing frequent arguments with others that escalate frustrations. She substantiated her views with adequate life experiences.

The need to nurture ‘Anger management’ skills and techniques from childhood and the possible impacts that would enhance one’s overall development in the later years, were briefed through case studies.

The session was an eye-opener and it paved way for a better understanding of what anger is all about. There were effective tips on how to manage anger which would enable children to grow into more confident, calm and balanced individuals. The takeaway was “Confidence is silent and insecurities are loud.”
