Indian English Academy School, Salmiya Kuwait, hosted their inter-school Cultural Fest 'XPRESSIONS 2022' on 12th November 2022, in collaboration with the community portal IndiansinKuwait (IIK), to showcase the talents of children and provide a platform for youngsters to blossom and grow. The theme of the competition was ‘Nature is our treasure – Help save it!’ There were a variety of events for the age group 6 to 17 years consisting of three categories : Sub-juniors, Juniors and Seniors, with the aim of bringing about social awareness and promoting culture and traditions.
Twenty Indian schools from all over Kuwait participated in the event. In all, there were 2,330 participants along with their teachers and parents. The event began with the Inaugural Ceremony at 8.30 am, followed by 603 performances in 51 events, conducted simultaneously in different venues within the school campus, and ended with the Closing Ceremony at 6 pm.
The Sponsors for the event were Al Muzaini Exchange Co. - Platinum sponsor, R & B - Gold sponsor, KDD - Gift sponsor and Marhaba Contemporary Fusion Kitchen - Hospitality sponsor.
The Chief Guest for the Inaugural Ceremony was Dr. Fatemah Almosawi, Founder of Spread the Passion, Kuwait, a charitable organisation which aims at conducting volunteer work in Kuwait. Mr. Abdullah Almatar, a renowned scientist, working for Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research (KISR), also graced the occasion with his presence in the afternoon. The Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony was Mr. Gurvinder Singh Lamba, Chairman of IBPC and owner of Al Mailem Green Rubber Tyres.
The competitions were divided into five main categories namely: Skills and Thrills, Off Broadway, Conquer the Mic, Hot Steppers and Tech – Fest. Under each category, a wide array of opportunities was provided, to ignite the fervour and creativity of the youngsters. In addition, there was also a quiz which tested knowledge and wit on a diverse collection of topics. It was heart–warming to see so much enthusiasm and excitement all around, as the students along with their teachers competed in a healthy manner.
The day ended with a lucky draw organised by our Platinum Sponsors – Al Muzaini Exchange Co. who offered a laptop to the winner. This was followed by the declaration of the results. The following schools won in the different categories: Sub juniors – Carmel School, Juniors – Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School, Seniors – Indian Learner’s Own Academy. The 2nd Runner – up position was bagged by Indian Learner’s Own Academy while the 1st Runner – up was Carmel School. The Overall Champions were Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School, Kuwait.
