A heavy explosion happened on Monday morning in a unit in the old refinery in Ahmadi. The explosion did not resulted in any injuries.

The National Petroleum Company announced a fire in the ARDS unit at the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, and the firefighting teams in the refinery are currently dealing with the fire.

The company said that ARD unit No. 42 and all lines leading to it have been isolated, and the refinery's fire brigades are still dealing with the accident.

Earlier, many residents in that area heard heavy explosion sound, said that they felt an earthquake. However later it was confirmed that the sound was due to the explosion at the refinery.
