Cleaning workers timings changed as temperature soars

In a bid to boost cleaning companies’ efficiency and improve cleaning levels in various governorates, as well as protect cleaners’ health during the current heat wave, Municipality Director Ahmad Al-Manfouhi issued an administrative decision on the working hours of cleaners deployed on various streets.

According to the decision, cleaners will start sweeping streets daily from 3 am to 11 am during the summer and from 4 am to noon during winter, in addition to a second shift from 4 pm to midnight. Manfouhi urged municipal officials to follow up the performance of cleaning companies and their commitment to the contracts signed with them.

Agree. But I''m an engineer, still I don''t get KD750 a month. But due to these people, their country looks good. They deserves lot more.

"cleaners will start sweeping streets daily from 3 am to 11 am during the summer" AND IT MEANS 8 HOURS CLEANING JOB IN HOT WEATHER FOR A SALARY OF KD.60/-

I had been to Australia recently and minimum salary for any work there is AU$18.5/hour (KD.3.900/hour). That is equal to KD.31.2 / 8 hours job. Yes, there is tax and still a cleaner earns about KD.750/- month after tax and can live a very decent life.

Now, it is up to the reader to understand the level of exploitation here. God bless these people cleaners.
