Bhavans, Kuwait Holds a Workshop on Effective Teaching and Technology in Classroom by Dr. T. P. Sasikumar

A workshop for teachers on effective teaching and technology in classroom was held at Indian Educational School, Kuwait by the eminent personality, Dr. T. P. Sasikumar. A polymath and polyglot in the true sense, Dr. Sasikumar, a former scientist in the Indian Space Department, a Deputy Director at Directorate General of Security, Cabinet Secretariat, is currently heading SHIKSHA, an organization which trains youngsters to face the multi-dimensional challenges they face in the modern world.

The more than half-a-day workshop started with the welcome speech by Mrs. Athira Prathap, (Department of English), IES. The workshop was attended by the principals of Bhavans, Kuwait Mr. T. Premkumar, Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Mrs. Rathi Ravindran, Vice Principals, Mr. Suresh. V. Balakrishnan, Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar, heads of various departments and the members of the Bhavans pedagogical family.

Dr. TPS started the day with the divine thought of ‘Guru Shishya relationship’. He signified that the success of a teaching learning process lies in the unconditional and platonic relationship between a teacher and his pupils. He denoted that the process of teaching learning must be skill oriented with the maximum utilization of the available technological resources, which eventually enables the teachers and students to think differently and thus breaks the monotonous way of teaching. He inspired the audience demonstrating various methodologies to enhance interdisciplinary and collaborative learning in the classroom that would make learning subjects like Geography, Mathematics, Physics and so on filled with fun. He further stated that a teacher is a lifelong learner, and only a passionate teacher can make a difference in the life of a student. Emphasizing the importance of passion and quest, he urged the Bhavans family of passionate pedagogues to reach out to the students with an unrelenting quest to make the slightest change in their lives. The power packed, inspiring seminar won the admiration of the pedagogues in unison and the ensuing interactive session saw the participation of many a passionate teacher. The ardent pedagogues of Bhavans reciprocated with rapturous applause, assuring the finest service to make a difference in the lives of the students under their care.

A memento of love, respect and appreciation was presented to Dr. T.P Sasikumar by the principals on behalf of the Bhavans Fraternity. The seminar ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Saji Joseph, (Department of English), IES. The day was worth a learning experience for the teaching fraternity of Bhavans, Kuwait who left the auditorium refreshed with added verve and vigor. Indeed, the day unwrapped a steep learning curve for all who attended the workshop.
