According to official statistics, an average of 12 suicide cases is reported in Kuwait in a month. In the year 2021, till date, 120 cases of suicide were reported in Kuwait, Al-Qabas daily quoting sources said. Last year, the total number of suicide registered in the country was only 90.

The majority of suicide cases are reported among the members of Asian communities, and the number of suicides has increased since the emergence of the Corona pandemic.

The report also added that the security team has succeeded in preventing dozens of Asians from committing suicide since the beginning of "Corona".

The report indicated that the high rates of suicide began with the spread of the Coronavirus.

A study by the National Office for Human Rights, the conditions left by the Corona pandemic in terms of unemployment, closure of hundreds of companies and commercial activities, and drugs are the top reasons behind the phenomenon. A large number of residents of different nationalities have found themselves without work due to the impact of the pandemic.

According to a Psychological researcher at Kuwait University, Dr. Al-Huwaila, People who suffer from moderate and severe depression are more prone to suicidal behaviour. "According to statistics, domestic workers, East Asians and some Arab nationalities commit suicide as a result of debt accumulation or psychological disorders," the report added, quoting her as saying.

There is no fair employment in most of the sectors here. You need wasta to get employment. People who dont have wasta but rely only on their skills dont get jobs here where as people with high wasta get higher post who dont know their jobs. Then where will they go? Suicide obviously.

who are these people who suicide?
they are among us
people you might see smiling probably are depressed inside.
i am not a psychiatrist but would like to express and request that behave politely/lovingly/respectfully to each other or with stranger
stop showing aggression . we are human beings let''s not behave like animals.
show each other respect out of caste/religion/nationality
unfortunately we can see in todays world where people are aggressive for no reason.
if you driving slow , then vehicle behind you gets aggressive
if you ask couple of more things to salesman they become aggressive
Bosses are aggressive on employee''s mistake
there are lot more examples
be humble show respect smile often
it won''t cost you anything.
remember
suicide doesn''t end the pain
it just transfer to another one
to your family and loved ones

& stop comparing yourself with the rich ones or with the one having better life than you
you never know what pain they are going thru.
don''t let their status and wealth deceive you.

Very sad to hear.
I guess they might have gone through a lot of stress n pain. May their souls rest in peace and may God keep everybody safe.

I think this is because there are many employees away from families almost 2 years now and are home sick and depressed. Of course flights opened but the fares are sky high for ordinary people to travel and there is uncertainty in the return. I sincerely recommend the companies to give counselling to the employees which would boost their confidence because we have less recreation/entertainment here in Kuwait to vent out the depression.
