Ambassador called community meeting on Kerala flood situation

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Shri Sibi George called a community meeting at the Indian Embassy on Monday to discuss the situation arising from floods and landslides in Kerala over the past couple of days.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various community associations, members of Indian Community Support Group ICSG and other community leaders.

"Our governments are taking all measures to address the situation. Hon'ble Prime Minister had a telephone conversation with Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala. Thousands of people are being evacuated and moved to relief camps in safe areas. Military helicopters are being used for relief efforts, including rescue operations and supply of food and other essential commodities," Ambassador said.

Ambassador gathered suggestions from the community on how to support our country during such calamities. Various community representatives assured their support on any initiative made under the Embassy.

However, Ambassador clarified that as of now, the Embassy had not made any financial appeal. However, the community members are free to offer their financial assistance to Prime Minister's relief fund or the respective State Chief ministers relief fund as they wish. He requested the community members to be ready in case the government has made any appeal.

The meeting started with a two minute silence. The meeting expressing solidarity to fellow brothers and sisters from Kerala impacted by the devastating floods.
