It was established in 1969, by the late Fr. Dr. Abel CMI. Kalabhavan has orchestrated the reveal of the traditional and popular art forms. At present Kalabhavan is successfully functioning its overseas operations in Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and U.A.E
In the Gulf, Kalabhavan continues its quest to promote a whole range of fine arts including Classical Dance, Folk Dance, Bollywood dance, Classical Music, Keyboard, Violin, Guitar, Drums, Tabla and Drawing & Painting etc.,.. The faculty of Kalabhavan, Kuwait includes veteran professionals who have been trained at Cochin Kalabhavan and other reputed institutions in India. The students, both children and adults are or orientated towards stage performances through months of rigorous training and practice.
With a humble beginning of 17 students in 2001, Today, Kalabhavan Kuwait proudly claim to have trained approximately 20,000 students of various nationalities. Kalabhavan Kuwait is celebrating their 20th Anniversary on 3rd (Friday) February 2023 in The Aspire Indian International School Abbasiya, Kuwait at 5p.m. More than 350 students performing Musical Instruments, Vocal Music, Classical & Western Dance. The famous south Indian actress and classical dancer Ms. Swasika Vijay will be performing and the Famous Kuwaiti singer Mr. Mubarak Al -Rasheed will be performing live Bollywood and South Indian Songs. Also on 4th (Saturday) February 2023 Ms. Swasika Vijay will be conducting free Bharatnatyam workshop for all classical dance passionates.
In connection with 20th Anniversary of Kalabhavan will be conducting drawing and painting completion called “Chitrahar contest’23 on 20th (Friday) January 2023 at The Indian Central School Abbasiya Kuwait at 10am.
