Bhavans SIS conducts Career Counselling Session

‘Whatever you decide to do, make sure it makes you happy’

Career Guidance sessions at school level are essential to enable young individuals understand their needs and to make informed decisions about their future. When high school students have a clear understanding of the best career choices for them, the result will be better planning and a more productive society for the future. On this note, a session on ‘The Emerging Career prospects for science students’ was organized at Smart Indian School Kuwait under the strong leadership of its Chairman Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, support of the Principal - Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Vice Principal - Ms. Albin Daisy, KG Supervisor - Ms. Rajni Menon and the School Counselor - Ms. Anju Jacob, on 20 October 2021 for students of grades 9 to 11. The guest speaker of the day was Mr. Prabakaran, Assistant Director, International relations, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Education and Research, Chennai.

The session commenced at 1.00 p.m. Kuwait time with a welcome note by the Head Girl Miss. Neha Kurian. She introduced the speaker and quoted major career decisions taken in life deciding the future and choosing the right path with unerring support is predominant for individual excellence. The session was further led by Mr. Prabakaran, who inspired the young minds with a detailed discussion on the ample opportunities and career options they can choose from science subjects. He also emphasized that career choice as being one of the most significant commitments in one’s life and therefore, it must not be taken under compulsion or peer pressure. He also motivated the students to never go out of following their passion. Further, the session was enhanced with the requirement of the students to pursue their potential.

Next, in his presentation the speaker enriched the listeners with a variety of courses apart from the traditional medical course which biology students choose the most. He encouraged the students to make academic plans based on the new age professional requirements and urged them to have an insight to the future demands. Moreover, gaining importance of Occupational therapist, Speech-language pathologist in dealing with children speaking incoherently and even adults stuttering due to speech difficulties were explained. Along with it, he listed the demanding courses namely, Anesthesia technology, Neuroscience, perfusing technology, Urology, Nuclear medicine, Plastic and Cosmetic technology, Orthopedic technology, Critical care technology and its importance, relevance, and their recognition in the job market. Mr. Prabakar insisted students about the need to check the quality of the academic institutions and the facilities provided before deciding enrollment.

Miss. Shifa Fatima Shere a grade 11 student in her thank you note expressed her unfeigned gratitude to the management for having initiated a fruitful, informative session that was unequivocally helpful for the students. Mr. Mahesh Iyer presented a Virtual Certificate to the Guest speaker Mr. Prabakaran as a mark of appreciation and recognition for his valuable time in creating awareness and enriching career knowledge among the young learners of Smart Indian School Kuwait.
