Bhavans IES Observes National Technology Day of India

The 11th of May is celebrated as ‘National Technology Day’ across India to mark the anniversary of Pokhran nuclear tests of 1998 and celebrate India's technological advancements in the sectors of Science and Technology. On this occasion, the Department of Computer Science of Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, organized a virtual technology quiz ‘Ctrl+Alt+Quiz’ for the students of grades 8 to 10.

The preliminary round of the quiz was conducted on April 13, 2021. 424 students attended the preliminary round as individual teams and the top five scorers of each grade were selected for the final round of the quiz which was conducted on the Discord platform on May 11, 2021. The team comprising Athul Kumar, Ved Patel and Reyna Mary John won the first position. The team comprising Naira Nikhat, Merin Elias and Jogesh Sriram Radhakrishnan was the first runner-up, and the second runner-up was the team consisting of Milan Puthalath, Najidah Nayaf and Lohitaksha Kondeti.

An exclusive prize distribution ceremony to felicitate the winners was conducted on the virtual platform. The proceedings of the ceremony started off with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Mohamed Irfan of grade 12, followed by a melodious prayer song rendered by Akshitha Rajesh of grade 8. Adrian Peter of grade 12 extended a warm welcome to the virtual gathering. A video presentation made by Matthew Paul of grade 12 was played showcasing the glimpses of the quiz conducted during the morning session. The students of grades 6, 7 and 8 were the virtual audience for the program.

The Principal, Mr. T. Premkumar, while addressing the audience, emphasized the significance of technology in the present scenario. He also gave a valuable advice to the audience that no one should become a slave to technology, and technology should be used as a tool without letting it affect one’s life adversely. The winners received virtual tokens of appreciation in the form of certificates. The certificates of appreciation were also presented to the twelfth graders who organized the event in the most impressive fashion along with their teachers of the Department of Computer Science.

Ms. Anselma Tessy Judeson, Vice Principal, Senior Wing and Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal, Middle Wing, while addressing the gathering, appreciated the quizzing spirit of the participants and congratulated the winners. They also appreciated the effort put in by the teachers of Computer Science and the students of the organizing committee. The eventful day came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Asha Ebey Samuel, Head of the Department, Computer Science. Jerome John Thomas of grade 12 was the emcee for the day.
