My Lockdown Journey

Today I am going to share about my 6 months journey in Kuwait without presence of my dad during Lockdown’2020.

So let me start…

On 17th Feb 2020 we had a great celebration of my Birthday.

I never ever dreamt that within a month things will change upside down.

During March 01st all of a sudden my dad decided to pay a surprise visit to India all alone for my grandma birthday. So he travelled on 3rd march all alone and while he arrived India, my Paternal Grandparents were so surprised. As per my request, my dad took a video of that and he sent us. The third day night while we were on video call, I told ‘Dad I am so excited because tomorrow you are coming back to Kuwait’. And then my dad said even I am excited and I bought some toys , sweets and fruits etc. Next day morning when I woke up I noticed my mother was tensed and talking to someone. Then while I asked to my mom what happened. she replied that my dad got stuck in Sharjah due to airport closure. When I heard this news me my mom and my sister were very much disappointed. But still I waited for 1 week .After 1 week we got a news that airport will be opened only after 3 months. Then I lost my hope. I was thinking only about him. Due to very depressed state of mind I become sick. But usually I am not that scared of sickness but this time I was a bit scared due to this COVID-19 pandemic. Then I started becoming lazy. And my food habits were not at all good. Owing that I became very thin. Every time my dad and mom explained that “Stay positive”. This illness is due to your depressed mind. When I listened this I started believing in myself. Then my dad said that yoga is important. I started practicing yoga. I found many changes in my body. Next I started learning cooking from my mom. I learnt to prepare tea, coffee, omelette, pancake, dosa etc. After 3 months , again government announced passengers entry ban extended for another 3 months. But this time I did not get disappointed because I remember what my parents told me. i.e ‘Stay Positive’. Even after 3 months, there were no direct Flights from India to Kuwait but there was an another option to enter Kuwait. i.e There is a flight from India to Dubai., and from Dubai he can enter Kuwait. So my dad decided to book the ticket. Along with him some passengers also came. These passengers and my dad were the first batch to travel through this route. When he arrived at airport there were some formalities and PCR test. Me my mom and my sister were too scared thinking whether he will stuck again. Next day night we got news from my dad that he arrived Kuwait. We all three were sooo… excited to see my dad after 6 months. We were waiting outside for my dad. Few minutes later. I saw my dad wearing face mask, gloves and face shield. When he came near us, me and my sister were about to hug him and give a kiss. But that time he stopped us and said “please don’t touch me because due to this COVID-19 and I just came from airport” Then after bathing he came and told us now you can hug me and kiss me. Then me and my sister went and gave him a hug and kiss. And we played with the toys that my dad bought. Then my dad told us that he had to be on 14 days home quarantine. Me and my sister were so happy to see my dad and mom joining back after a long time.

Moral of the story is “Life is full of Ups and Downs”

Nicely explained the entire journey and the hardship this pandemic has put us through from a young children perspective. I am sure there are more kids in similar situation.

"Staying positive" "Adaptability" and "Self Reliance" are 3 biggest takeaways from this Pandemic.

Good to know that your dad is back :)
