10 KD deduction as service charge for refunding ticket- DGCA

The General Administration of Civil Aviation allowed travel and tourism agencies and offices to deduct 10 dinars as service fees for each ticket they are refunding due to the closure of Kuwait Airport due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, in a circular, DGCA obligated all airlines, travel and tourism agencies operating in Kuwait to refund the full value of tickets, hotel reservations and other tourism services for customers whose trips were cancelled during the period from March 14 to July 31. The returns can be of either cash back, credit cards, or through credit for a year, without deduction of any amount before September 30.

As for the new circular, it was stipulated that a service fee of 10 dinars can be deducted for each travel ticket and other tourism services for the period.

''The returns can be.... credit for a year.....''

This is the worst case. What if passenger no longer wishes to travel within that one year period? Same problem in India also where airlines refused to refund money. Most likely same scenario will happen here also. Of course, Kuwaitis will get their refund since this is their country. But expats will not get money back.
