“One can run anywhere, anytime!”

The Department of Physical Education, Bhavans Smart Indian School, Kuwait organized Fit India Freedom Run Movement on 1st and 2nd October 2021 in a response to a nation-wide movement commenced in India: the aim being ‘encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical and sports activities in their daily lives’. It was launched by Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India in New Delhi on August 29, 2019.

As more preparatory work was needed to collect all the participants towards the two days event, the P.E Department strategized a few procedures: REGISTRATION FORM - FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN, and WhatsApp group SIS Freedom Run. A remarkable presence of teachers, students and parents was apparently evident throughout the event.

All the participants were given a short introduction to the event followed by the guidelines. There was a commendable response to this event from parents, students and teachers across Kuwait.

All participants did run in the nearest playground / garden / any safe space available adjacent to their building. They took the pictures/ short videos (max. 15 seconds) of their running and posted them in the WhatsApp group - SIS Freedom Run (Only registered people). Total number of kilometers they ran on 1st and 2nd October 2021 were filled in the feedback form.

Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the Principal of Smart Indian School appreciated the P.E Department for raising awareness upon physical fitness among the students and assisting them to get rid of obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases etc. and he thanked all the participants for joining this noble event, “Come let’s all virtually join hands to build a healthy nation.”
