A small emirate nestled between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Kuwait is situated in a section of one of the driest deserts on earth. Its shore includes Kuwait Bay, a deep harbour on Persian Gulf. The country has an arid climate. The temperature difference between winter and summer is huge.

The tiny country , which was a British protectorate from 1899 until 1961, drew world attention in 1990 when Iraqi forces invaded and attempted to annex it. Iraq’s army was driven out of Kuwait , but the retreating invaders looted the country. Kuwait was largely recovered from the effects of the war and again has one of the highest per capita incomes in the country.

Kuwait’s generally conservative government provides generous material benefits to its citizens. Other than Kuwaitis, Kuwait’s population is composed largely of Indians, Egyptians, Pakistanis, Filipinos, Iranis, Afghanis, and people is a very small number from the US, Canada, Morocco, Tunisia and Kenya. So Kuwait is a home to a lot of expat population . This is because of the employment opportunities that the country offers and also the education and healthcare.

Kuwait shares friendly ties with Asian countries such as India and Pakistan and it has the largest number of expats from these countries. Kuwait houses a large expatriate Indian population and is the source of 10-20 % of India’s oil imports while India is among the largest trade partners of Kuwait. Indians from one of the largest communities in Kuwait numbering about 640,000 people. Kuwait is home to 300 Indian associations and 18 Indian schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. Kuwait-Pakistan relations are bilateral relations, both the countries are members of OIC. Pakistani force4s took active part in the liberation of Kuwait back in 1991.

Kuwait has always maintained strong international relations with most countries. Its vast oil reserves gives it a prominent voice in global forums and organisations.

The country is known across the world for its healthcare. People from Canada, Brazil, South Africa and many countries from around the world fly to Kuwait for medical treatment. Healthcare in Kuwait is regarded as being of high standard. Most providers in Kuwait are western-trained. Most private providers are highly specialized. Pharmacies are readily available in Kuwait in every area. Expats have access to all public facilities.

Kuwait has a comprehensive scheme of social welfare. The needy receive financial assistance; loans are provided to the handicapped to start business, the disabled can get treatment and training, and education is available for adult illiteracies. Kuwait’s military expenditure per capita is among the highest in the world. It also has defense agreements with other countries.

The people staying in Kuwait earn Kuwaiti Dinar, the most expensive currency in the world. They lead a considerably comfortable and relaxed life. They experience working with people of various nationalities and ethnicities.

The country has definitely given us so much. It is a heaven which god has given us, the home he granted us.
