IEI – Kuwait Chapter Conducts Technical Seminar at Holiday Inn – Downtown

It was pleasant, cozy evening and people were taking their rides back home, after their day’s work, but Engineers assembled at Holiday Inn, Downtown ball room to attend the technical seminar organised by Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait chapter and NIPPON Elevators supported by Trade links Kuwait on 19th December 2017 on the topic – “Precision Engineered Rides”.

The seminar started little late than the scheduled time, as the approach roads to the venue were all diverted, due to the construction activity in the area and members and guests had difficulties in crisscrossing the streets to reach the venue. The first master of ceremonies Engr. Sam Ananth invited all the members to the technical seminar presented by M/S. Nippon Elevators. He requested Engr. Ajay Sharma, Chairman IEI Kuwait chapter to Accompany Shri. Anup Singh, Attache (Commercial) Indian Embassy in Kuwait to the dais. Engr. Thomas John, Gen. Secretary was requested to accompany the speaker of the seminar Engr. Samson Lim, Sales and Marketing Director of M/s. Nippon Elevators, Malaysia and Dr. Abdul Razak Rumane, Ex. Chairman was requested to escort Mr. Wilson Varghese Group CEO of Trade Links Kuwait, Engr. Sudhir Menghani was requested to escort Ms. Cheryl Chew Channels sales Manager of Nippon Elevators on to the dais.

Flower Bouquets were presented to the dignitaries as mark of appreciation and warmth by Engr. Mitra Kumar to Shri. Anup Singh, by Engr. Mohan Kamath to Engr. Samson Lim, by Engr. Ilangovan to Mr. Wilson Varghese Group CEO of Trade Links Kuwait, by Engr. Sudhir Menghani to Ms. Cheryl Chew.

Mr. Renji Cherian, Business development Executive and officials from trade links, the local sponsor of M/ Nippon Elevators participated along with IEI – Executive members in organizing for the seminar arrangements. Engr. Sudhir Menghani, Treasurer IEI Kuwait chapter, gave a brief introduction of the speaker of the seminar and handed over the microphone and podium to the presenter.

The Speaker Mr. Samson Lim, made a passionate presentation highlighting the unique features of the NIPPON elevators and explained in detail the design aspects of the NIPPON elevators, which includes head room less elevators. He stated that the NIPPON elevators can be installed in homes with less space consumption and the distinctive products such as spiral lifting chairs for the elderly and physically challenged, which can be installed on the staircase was interesting. NIPPON have different types of Elevators catering to the needs and designs of the customers for the Precision Engineered rides, with speed ranging from 1 meter/ sec to 7.4 meters/sec. They have a unique monitor and control software, which is provided as an additional feature. The heavy load lifts for the industrial and hospitality industry was impressive with their different load capacities. The products offered ranges from the home applications to High rise buildings and he stressed that everything can be customized and designed based on the customers’ requirements.

Mementos were presented, in appreciation of their contributions to IEI Seminar, to Engr. Samson Lim by Engr. Ajay Sharma, to Ms. Cheryl Chew by Engr. Ilangovan, to Mr. Wilson Varghese, GCEO of Trade Links by Dr. Rumane. In appreciation of the support and help extended to IEI - Kuwait chapter in conducting AMIE exams at GCUE center, by the Indian Embassy Consular and Education Attache and GCUE Kuwait, memento was presented by Dr. Mahenderan to Shri. Sanjeev Sanklani, Attache (Consular Education) Indian Embassy in his absence Shri. Anup Singh received it and Engr. Sudhir Menghani handed over the memento to Mr. Alloysius Martin, Center Director of GCUE, Kuwait.

Engineers and guests who attended the seminar, were very much impressed with the technical expertise of the presenter and Engr. Samson Lim clarified & answered with ease the many doubts raised by the Civil & Structural Engineers, Electrical & Mechanical Engineers and Architects during Q & A Session, which was lively and cordial

Engr. Thomas John, General Secretary, IEI – Kuwait Chapter proposed the vote of thanks and he reminded the IEI members of the forth coming IEI - Family Day celebration in January 2018 and wished every one merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018. The Seminar ended with a sumptuous dinner served by the holiday inn team.
