Before discussing about exams, let’s talk about a person who is not familiar to many of us. It’s Henry Fishy. He was the first to invent exams in the world. If he wouldn’t have invented this then there wouldn’t have been any need of discussing about this.

Now let’s talk about exams. When the word ‘exam’ is just said itself it’s sufficient to send shivers down the spine of many students. It’s obvious that many of us frighten exams. We will do anything we can to escape from these.

During exams we mug up the entire portion without any sense and also we may not know the meanings of chapters of what we have learnt. This is not good. We should have a clear idea of what they have learnt and should be build up to answer others questions.

Exams are conducted by the school management in order to evaluate the student’s progress in his/her studies. Some people say that exams test a wide range of subjects and that may occur as a heavy burden for the students. While some say that exams test only limited portions and this may favor the students having sharp memory. Some others also say that exams are theoretical and useless as the students may forget few portions which they have learnt as time passes away. And we all want exams to be conducted no more. However exams are important as we test the student’s skills.

There are some students who do not take exams seriously and there are some who can’t memorize each and everything we have learnt. So we prefer a different path which is not allowed and make them a habit. For the act of scoring high marks we use illegal and punishable means like copying. Sometimes the examiners friends or elderly people or in fact their wrongly thinking parents itself get involved in the case of question paper leak out. This shows how much the students are not interested in their studies.

Even though exams are of high importance and of great value, there are also some drawbacks for these. The consequences of stress and anxiety which we face during the period of exam preparation are severe. It may also lead to illness. All these collectively lead us to perform weak in their tests and examination.

But there are more severe causes due to exams. Those who are undergoing exams are really stressful. They are under immense pressure. Failure in the examinations may sometime lead to drastic measures i.e. the student may commit suicide as we fail to satisfy the expectations of their teachers and parents. This is really dangerous as it causes a series of problems both in their school and home.

When talking about exams as a whole, different people have different arguments. Some say that they are useful and some say that they are of no use and need to be abolished. Exams are necessary as we measure our abilities and whatever we have learnt. The 3-hour exams conducted by the schools shouldn’t be considered useless as they play an important role in the progress of the students. It’s also an opportunity for some student’s to overcome their nerves and their frightening approach towards exams. We all have to be bold enough to face examinations.
