Hala February and Liberation Day

Wednesday, February 19, 2020

The most awaited time of the year in Kuwait is the Hala February and the National and Liberation day period. Hala February is a festival that coincides with the National and Liberation day of Kuwait. Hala February has been celebrated every year since 1999. This Festival is all about celebrating the spring season and providing an impetus to the local economy. Fortunately, for Kuwait, the month of February is also the period when they celebrate their National and Liberation day. Kuwait's National day is celebrated on 25 February, the anniversary of the coronation of Sheikh Abdullah, It was originally celebrated on 19 June, the date of independence, but concerns over the summer heat caused the government to move it. Every year aside from its National Day, Kuwait also celebrates Liberation Day on 26th of February. This official public holiday is celebrated in honor of the country's independence from Iraq after the first Gulf War. The country celebrates the occasion with a lot of gusto. Starting in the month of February, the country commences its preparation by lighting up the entire nation, with a variety of creative designs and structures. This is the time when people of different diasporas, come together as one to celebrate a nation that teaches us cultural and religious tolerance. Malls organize various shows, fireworks and exhibitions are held all over the country, attended by people all over, All in all, this enthusiastic time is when we all come together, with family, friends and relatives to cherish the moments we have spent in a wonderful nation.
