Kuwait & India – The True Ties

Posted on 2/12/2019

A social, economic and mutual understanding between countries makes a good relation. A good example of this relation are the State of Kuwait and the Republic of India. Both countries have a different culture but it all started with “TRADE”.

The trade between Kuwait and India started a millennium ago when Arab mares were traded between these countries. Some centuries later when the Kuwaiti citizens only employment was pearl fishing, they had a lovely relation with the largest market of Asia at that time “Bombay”. When the Kuwaiti’s only treasure crude oil was found the relation of these countries began with an import & export. Kuwait has a large amount of Indian immigrants working to earn their living in Kuwait. India purchases about $17.56 billion dollar worth crude oil from Kuwait being one of the largest importer of this fuel. The Kuwaiti council has even granted jobs to 640,000 Indian immigrants living in Kuwait. The political relation between these countries are quite good in all these years. Kuwait is even home to 300 Indian associations with 18 Indian schools affiliated to the CBSE in New Delhi. Many Arab citizens in Kuwait has a great respect to Indian customs, tradition and culture which makes a true relationship with these trade partners. Kuwait even imports much of the Indian products which is high in quality such as machinery, agricultural products, medicinal drugs, iron and steel materials etc…. The ones who say that India & Kuwait are only trade partners must have forgotten that before Kuwait’s independence the currency used was the Indian Rupee.

In the future too both these countries will have a great matters to discuss. Kuwait is now growing in the scientific, defence and educational sectors. We may even see Kuwait & India exchanging defense equipment to be more dominant in this field. Science is a very crucial sector for every economy with the growing Kuwaiti population it will need more scientific remedies and technology for being a better nation. We may even see the developed Kuwait & India where these countries would have a more income [per capita]. We may even see these countries flourishing in these fields for many deals and [MoU] memorandum of understanding in the future.

With many more mutual economic & social understanding both these countries are one of the largest respect given relations in the Gulf circuit. May this relation continue for many more golden years.
