The land where I took my first breath . The land where the aura is surrounded by the scent of oil and oud . The land where the sound of Adhan echoes throughout the city at the precise time. The land where ‘Mabrook’ and ‘Shukran’ has some sort of special feelings in one’s heart. I think you have an idea which country I am emphasizing . It’s Kuwait ; My Second Home.

Why did I use the word ‘home’ instead of ‘house’ ? You must have heard the phrase that ‘A House is not a Home .’ A house is made of bricks and cement that creates its foundation ; creating a home is making a space that is uniquely yours, that express you and how you want to live your life . Ultimately , to be who you are and my homeland Kuwait has helped me a lot in this and changed me to a person I thought I never would be.

Where in the world do you not find a Mallu ? You will find a mallu everywhere and that is a kind of fact and here too, the mallus have made one of the areas Abbasiya into a ‘ Mini Kerala ‘ where I live and I am a mallu too . Let’s not forget about the Lulu hypermarket when talking about mallus. The place where you can meet your dear ones on Friday . The place you end up buying everything except things on your buying list or cart.

When it comes to my school life , nothing can be compared to the love and unity in United Indian School, Abbasiya as the name itself tells a brief description about it.

The platform that taught me to embrace my existence by taking part in various extracurricular activities such as elocution , poem recitation ,basketball , badminton even for anchoring in different school programs and so on .The place which will have fond memories on each corner and let’s not forget the fun after school during summers . In a nutshell , the baqalas or shops near the schools are getting a lot of profit by selling items like laban , Sunkist , sip ups and so on and never forget about monsoon showers the unexpected guests during winters with our surprises {holidays}that feel like Santa’s gifts !

Even though I am Indian my soul lies in the land I am brought up in . Kuwait may not have mountains and rivers , but it has something even better -a HOME for all of us who never expected to love it this much.

‘I love Kuwait , my second home, where the Tea is strong , Shawarma is cheap and the memories last forever.’
