Kuwait as a Second Home

Wednesday, February 22, 2023

As a little child, playing around my flat and my building, I always thought that Kuwait was my country and my place. Once I grew up I came to know that we were not in my actual country and rather foreigners in a small but influential country in the Middle East and that we were in Kuwait because of my parents’ profession.

The country of Kuwait has a wide variety of food, people, climates, cultures and many other things. The reason for this happening is because of the amount of people who migrate to Kuwait for better life and job opportunities. The climate of Kuwait usually is always extreme be it coldness or hotness and occasionally rain can also be observed and yes, even the rain can be extreme, as flooding during the rainy season can occur, which would lead to holidays. A number of holidays are observed in Kuwait to celebrate many important dates in history like the National day of Kuwait, Liberation day etc. A weird observance that can be seen in Kuwait is the larger presence of street cats than dogs and as I like cats I find this a very pleasant situation, however the same cannot be said about India as I have noticed more dogs than cats. Although Kuwait has a large population of people who are Muslims one can find people who follow other religions too. Kuwait has many beautiful beaches and vast deserts which make desert camping a very popular activity among people living in Kuwait and I have also had the privilege to have done desert camping on a few occasions. Kuwait has made a great home for me as well as my family. I have made many friends who are from different countries due to the difference in the nationalities of people in Kuwait.

India can be very different to Kuwait in almost everything like food, culture, languages, climate, terrain etc. India is the country of my ancestors and hence my original home should be India, however, I cannot completely agree with this as Kuwait has become now inadvertently become my second home.
