A Friend in Need is A Friend Indeed

Tuesday, February 22, 2022

India and Kuwait share friendly ties that are rooted in history and have stood the test of time.

Indians form one of the most prevalent expatriate communities in Kuwait numbering about 6,40,000 people.

India is one among the largest trade partners of Kuwait. Kuwait’s ministry of health employs a large number of Indians in their health care system.

Oil reserves were first discovered in Kuwait in 1938, and in 1946, crude oil exports to India commenced. Since then, Kuwait became a trusted and reliable partner for India’s growing energy needs.

Kuwait has numerous Indian institutions, schools, businesses and also a large number of Indian restaurants, etc. Thousands of Indian engineers work in key positions in Kuwait’s oil and construction sectors.

Kuwait-India friendship was again demonstrated when India was reeling under the effects of the second wave of COVID- 19. Kuwait provided over seventy- five Metric Tons of Liquefied Medical Oxygen and a thousand Oxygen with the help of numerous Indian navy ships and tankers.

India is also the preferred destination for the health care needs of thousands of Kuwaitis.

The former Amir of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al- Jaber Al- Sabah, would pay a visit to India, whenever, he would be unwell, to get medical care from some of the top Indian hospitals.

The famous Kuwaiti artist, Mr. Mahmoud Al- Qattan had also painted a portrait of the Indian freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi, which looked realistic and inspiring.
We hope that India and Kuwait continue to cherish and enhance their strong friendly relationship till the end of time!

Long Live India-Kuwait Brotherly Ties!
