Kuwait National Anthem

Monday, February 22, 2021

As the occasion of the National Day and Liberation Day of Kuwait is near, I remembered one incident in my former office in Kuwait , which I want to share with all. Thursday being the last working day of the week, we are little relaxed at work place. We were busy in discussing some general issues amongst ourselves during the lunch break.

Suddenly, one of my young Arab colleagues mobile rang. He put Kuwait National Anthem as his phone’s ringtone. His phone was on speaker mode. After hearing the Kuwait National Anthem, I stood up on an impulse. He suddenly did not understand why I had stood up and asked me the reason behind such action.

I explained it to him that we should respect the National Anthem of every country because it is the national symbol of a country which represents the tradition, culture, history, and beliefs of a nation and its people. Hence, it helps to evoke a great sense of patriotism among the citizens and reminds them of their nation’s glory, beauty, and rich heritage.

I further explained that it also helps unite the citizens of the country by one single song or music. During the performance of the national anthem, citizens of a nation, despite their ethnic differences, rise up in unison and listen attentively or sing the song with great enthusiasm. Players also feel a great moment of pride when they receive a medal at an international sporting event while their country’s national anthem is played in the background. It gives them a feeling of having made their country proud. Students who listen to the national anthem in their schools learn to respect their nation and develop a sense of unity among them.

Patriotism is not instilled through the singing of the anthem alone. If children want to sing the anthem and understand what it stands for, it can be done by schools in their own time and space. The significance of the anthem and flag and the history associated with them can be taught to the child in a manner which he/she finds enjoyable and educative

The concept of a national anthem was first popularized in 19th century Europe. After their independence from European colonial powers, many of the newly-independent nations also composed their own national anthems and today, virtually every sovereign nation in the world has its own national anthem.

After the proclamation of Kuwait's independence, the Kuwait national anthem was written by the poet Meshari Al-Adwani and was broadcast for the first time on 25 February 1978. The Amiri Salute was composed by Yusuf Adees in 1951 and was used until February 1978.

I have been staying in Kuwait with my family since last 15 Years . Just trying to think about my past and where I am today . I consider myself lucky for ever living in such country , which has given me ample opportunities , love and affection for which I am always grateful . I never feel that I am staying in an alien country . There is cordial and friendly atmosphere everywhere and local people are very loving and co-operative . My son studies here in a school where all children study together without any bias . Even the offices where I have worked I have found the environment friendly.

The political and social relations between India and Kuwait is very good and we hope it will continue for years to come .

I would like to say SHUKRAN KUWAIT.
