After being under British rule for more than two centuries, India gained independence in the year 1947. Approximately three years after India’s
Independence, the Indian constitution was adopted on 26th of January 1950 which is known as the Republic Day of India.
In the year 1930 on 26th of January, Purna Swaraj day or India’s Independence Day was celebrated, and this day gave an impetus to Indian Independence movement. Every year India celebrates its Republic Day on 26th January.
It is the national festival of India. On this day in 1950, our constitution came into effect. This year in 2024 we will celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India. On 26th January, the President of India hoists the national flag in New Delhi. A big parade is held at India gate in New Delhi.
Republic day is celebrated in schools and colleges with full enthusiasm and joy. The presidents give awards to the brave soldiers and people on this day. Republic Day teaches us to live in unity and peace.
