India’s digital revolution has been transformative, reshaping the lives of common people and creating a digitally advanced nation. The power of ‘Digital India’ is now visible everywhere, with apps such as E-Sanjeevani becoming life-saving tools for the common man.

Digital Leap

India is home to one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing bases of digital consumers. Propelled by the falling cost and rising availability of smartphones and high-speed connectivity, India had 560 million internet subscribers in 2018. Indians downloaded more apps 12.3 billion in 2018 than any country except China and spend more time on social media an average of 17 hours a week.

Financial Inclusion

The share of Indian adults with at least one digital financial account has more than doubled since 2011, to 80 percent, thanks largely to the government’s mass financial inclusion program, Jan-Dhan Yojana. By 2025, electronic payments could help 300 million Indians join the country’s financial system.

Education and Healthcare

The government’s new National Education Policy (NEP) emphasizes digitization and the use of technology in education. Similarly, healthcare delivery is being transformed with digital technologies like E-Sanjeevani.

Future Prospects

India is digitizing faster than many mature and emerging economies. The potential economic impact of digital applications by 2025 is significant. However, there remains ample room to grow. The public sector has been a strong catalyst for India’s rapid digitization.

In conclusion, India’s digital technology advancement empowers the common man, transforms work, and contributes to higher living standards. The future holds immense potential for further growth and inclusivity in the digital sphere. The common man stands at the heart of this digital revolution, reaping its benefits and driving its progress.
