Atmanirbhar Bharat: Mission towards self-reliant India

In recent years, India has embarked on a transformative journey with the vision of becoming self-reliant across various sectors through Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission. This initiative, championed by the government, aimed to foster economic growth, innovation and resilience ultimately shaping a self-sufficient and robust India. Atmanirbhar Bharat was introduced by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to make India a developed and self-reliant country. This mission has been used since 2014 in relation to National security, poverty and digital India. However, it was first popularly used during the announcement of India’s covid-19 economic package in 2020. Since then, it is being used by different government departments. Atmanirbhar Bharat had helped to change India into a self-reliant nation in economic resilience, indigenous innovation, strengthening local industries, infrastructure, skill and employment development, agriculture, healthcare, finance etc.

The mission focuses on reducing the dependency on external sources and bolstering indigenous industries, ensuring that the nation can withstand global economic uncertainties. The mission also reduces dependency on foreign defence equipment by promoting domestic production. It also encourages the development and growth of home-grown technologies, start-ups and research initiatives. To achieve self-reliance, the mission places significant emphasis on local industries by providing support and incentives. The mission allocates sources for the development of essential infrastructure including transportation and energy. By aligning skill development with the needs of emerging industries, Atmanirbhar Bharat aims to create employment opportunities and empowers individuals across diverse sectors. The mission encourages partnership with other nations and international organization to foster mutual growth and development which makes India an active participant in the global economy.

Recognising the role of education in shaping a self-reliant nation, Atmanirbhar Bharat introduces comprehensive reforms. The mission aims to modernize the education system, aligning it with industry needs, fostering creativity and promoting research and development which ensures a skilled and adaptable workforce for the evolving demands of the future. The mission extends its vision to space exploration and technology and encourages the growth of space industry, satellite manufacturing and research and development in space related technology. Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives for the conservation of water by adopting efficient irrigation practices and promoting water saving technology and the mission promotes investments in clean energy projects. The mission incorporates strategies for preparedness, response and recovery from natural disaster and pandemics. The mission develops tourism infrastructure, showcases cultural heritage and leverages digital platform for marketing.

In conclusion, we can say that Atmanirbhar Bharat represents bold and ambitious vision of India’s future. It is a multifaceted mission that addresses various dimensions of self-reliance. By the fostering economic resilience, promoting indigenous innovation, strengthening local industries and by other means, India strives to chart a course towards a self-reliant future, where the nation stands strong on the global stage and become a globally competitive nation, contributing to the well-being of its citizens and the world at large. As the nation continues on this transformative path, the world watches with anticipation, witnessing the emergence of a self-sufficient India.
