“India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great-grandmother of tradition.”
January 26th is celebrated as our Republic day. But 20 years before India became a republic, the date 26th January had great significance for Indians. For it was on this day, in 1930, that the Indian National Congress declared Purna Swaraj, or complete freedom from the British raj as its goal.

India, the land greatly known for its rich heritage, culture, traditions, ancient history and its unity in diversity. India has played a significant role in peacekeeping in the world. India is a great contributor in UN peacekeeping. One great example of this is how India fought its war of independence following the ideals of ahimsa and non-violence. India showed the way for other oppressed nations to fight and win freedom through peaceful means.

India has been a major contributor to world peace and security. India has been a leader in advocating for global disarmament, non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament. India has also been a strong advocate of multilateralism, and has been a major participant in United Nations peacekeeping operations. India has taken part in numerous UN-led peacekeeping operations in different parts of the world, including Somalia, Lebanon, East Timor, Haiti, Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and Sudan. India has also played an important role in promoting regional peace and stability in South Asia and the Indian Ocean region. India has been actively involved in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) too. More than 2 lakh Indians have served in UN peacekeeping missions.

India has also been a major contributor to global anti-terrorism efforts, providing critical intelligence and logistical support to the global fight against terrorism.
India has also played a major role in mediating disputes between several powers. Even in the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine , the world wanted India to take the major role bringing peace back to the region.

Let India continue to play a major role in maintaining peace throughout the world. Long live India!

Jai Hind!
