India’s Advancement in Technology for the Common Man

India’s advancement in digital technology has taken a great leap. India’s economy has grown substantially with the help of internet and technological gadgets like smartphones etc.

The country is currently having a strong focus on science and technology, realising that it is a key element for economic growth. India ranks highly in terms of the most attractive investment destinations for technology setup in the world.

The government has introduced multiple policies aimed at projecting India as a science and technology powerhouse and promoting both public and private sector involvement. In 2015, the government of India launched a massive campaign named ‘’Digital India’’. The government services like booking railway tickets, paying electricity bills, income tax etc. have been made available to the citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure. The main aim of this campaign is to make good use of technology and expand high-speed internet network to remote areas of the country.

During the peak of Covid-19, people did not prefer hand-to-hand transactions, so UPI apps such as PhonePe, Paytm, google pay etc. came into a lot of use, the smallest to the biggest enterprises offer UPI payment system, these apps are extremely user-friendly and do not take much time to set up. It links the account of the users’ to their bank accounts.

Transportation and moving around from one place to another is made easier after the introduction of mobility apps such as uber and ola that allow users to book cabs and taxis online with ease.

There are many advantages that come from advancement in digital technology. Access to services has improved and services can now be done from anywhere given that the user has permitted access and there is sufficient Internet connection. Digital technology conserves a huge amount of resources including physical files etc. and thus, it is good for the environment. Interactions and transactions of businesses have transformed making it much easier for the common man. Digital advancement has improved efficiency and productivity. It also has reduced time taken to get things done as the entire system becomes faster and the process is quicker.

It is evident that the impact of digital advancement is of huge significance on India's growth. Our country can take advantage of the processes set by the developed countries by learning from their best practices and using mature technologies, and markets to implement good measures in India. It is important now to take the movement forward with the same motive, developing appropriate systems leading to mass adoption of digital technologies. India’s technological and digital initiatives have transformed the lives of people. The advancements will increase in the years to come and lead to better quality of life in India.
